How to Survive an Auto Accident

In Colorado Car Safety, Colorado Insurance Agency, Colorado Insurance Professional

First thing to surviving an auto accident is to not get in one.  Be careful out there.

I hope you never are involved in an auto accident.  I have been hit twice in a year and it totaled both my vehicles.  There are a few things you must do for a smooth claims process.

8 steps to do After an Auto Accident

  1. Stop Immediately.
  2. Make sure no one was badly hurt.
  3. Notify the police,  having a police report will make the claims process go faster.
  4. Write down everyone’s insurance information that was involved in the accident, the vehicle’s make, model, and license plate number.
  5. Take a photo of the accident with your phone or draw a picture of what happened.
  6. Don’t hastily accept claim settlement at scene of the accident.
  7. Remain calm and consistent in your version of the accident.
  8. Notify your agent as soon as possible.  They will help you get everything you need.

Most accidents occur by your home and mine was no different.

Talk to your insurance agent about med-pay.  It is a really great add-on.  You may be wondering what it is so I will talk about it.  First, it takes care of your reasonable and necessary medical expenses, the coverage is usually minimal.  It can help pay for a chiropractor if you need one.  It is a great addition to your health insurance.

Emergency Road Service

Let’s say you didn’t get in an accident “knock on wood” but your throttle body went out and your car no longer starts.  This situation happens all the time and it is always a sad day.  You may be in a pickle.  Toeing and Emergency Road Service on your auto insurance policy will get you out of it.  If you would like this added, contact your insurance agent.

Rental Reimbursement

Another thing that is great to have is rental reimbursement coverage.  If you wreck your car you then can go get a rental vehicle while your vehicle is being repaired.

If you would like these added to your insurance policy contact your insurance agent today.  Sometimes paying an extra $5 a month is worth it when you get into an auto accident.  It is a simple click and then you will have it when you need it.

If you are searching for insurance please contact one of our local Colorado Affordable American Insurance agents.  They will take good care of you.  If you are not looking for an insurance contact them anyways to see if you have toeing and emergency road service on your car, it is usually a couple bucks a month and it helps.

More Companies. More Options. More Savings.

Affordable American Insurance

I wish I had some of these on my vehicle before I got in my accident but I fell for a policy that was cheaper instead of one that provided great value.  It can happen to any of us.  You think that it will happen to you.
