Make sure your tailgate party is a safe one
Football season is in full swing. If you are a football enthusiast, then you know that tailgating is a key component of any game. Unfortunately, with the huge numbers of fans having tailgate parties, there is always room for a mishap. Here are some tips to help you make sure your tailgate experience is fun and safe!
Keep food at the right temperature. Cold food should be kept cold, and hot food should be kept hot. Don’t leave foods that require refrigeration out on platters for hours. Make sure you have plenty of ice to store raw or uncooked meat products before cooking. For more food safety tips for tailgate parties, go to this website.
Have a fire extinguisher handy. If you’re grilling, always have a fire extinguisher on hand and know how to use it.
Watch for fire hazards. If you are using a charcoal grill to cook on, make sure that all of the coals are out completely at the end of the party! You don’t want to be one of the stories about a vehicle catching on fire from the grill.
Be on the lookout for tripping hazards. If you are tailgating in the parking lot before a game, keep in mind that it will be crowded. Try to position tables, chairs, grills and so on so you and your guests can safely maneuver around them.
Think twice about serving alcohol. Make sure you or anyone attending your party do not drink and drive.
