Should I Drop Full Coverage on My Auto Insurance?

Everyday our cars continue to get older and older. Is it worth keeping full coverage (collision and comprehensive) insurance on your vehicle? How much more does full coverage cost over just maintaining liability coverage? What is your car really worth? These are the questions you should ask when thinking about dropping full coverage from your car insurance policies.

If something were to happen to your car and it was damaged or worse; ‘a total loss,’ would you have enough money to replace your vehicle? Would you be ok with that? This may be the most important question to ask yourself in determining whether or not to drop your collision and comprehensive insurance or not.

You’ll Have to Decide

There is not really a magical number that when reached you should drop your collision and comprehensive insurance. It is really up to you to decide. If you want to bet on your driving ability, maybe it’s worth it!? If you are worried that winter and icy roads are just around the corner, maybe you want to maintain full coverage for a bit longer.

Replacement Cost

How much do cars like yours get sold for on Craigslist or at the local dealership? What are they selling for online at sites like cars.com, vehix.com, or autotrader.com? This question will help you determine the replacement cost of your vehicle. If your car were totaled, could you afford the prices above to purchase a similar make and model? With that information in hand you can make a wise decision on whether or not you are ready to drop your collision and comprehensive insurance. If you decide to do this, ask your agent about Uninsured Property Damage coverage. If you need further assistance call your local insurance agent.

In 2009, Affordable American Insurance was recognized for being in the top 50 family owned businesses in Colorado. Two years later the company made it to the 33rd spot. Affordable American Insurance has continued to grow.

Dominican Republic

Awards are great but what really matters is how we help out our community both here and abroad. Our greatest joy as a company came from when we organized and created a plan to donate 1.5 million dollars in medical equipment to the Dominican Republic. We achieved our goal and the medical equipment reached the shores of the Dominican Republic on Jan 2, 2010, ten days before the Haiti earthquake. The medical equipment was used immediately and many lives were saved.

We also helped out the local Denver community. We partnered with Metropolitan State College of Denver with their 7th annual Share the Warmth Coat Drive benefiting the Denver Rescue Mission. Our 40 offices around the Denver metro area served as a drop off locations and many boxes and bags of coats were collected. They were donated to the Denver Rescue Mission. If you would like to read more about our coat drive visit this blog. We hope to help out our local community more.
