The New World of Insurance


If you are graduating in a few weeks, come along, enjoy the voyage, and see if this exciting world is right for you.  You can save your pirate rum for your grad party…you may still have finals to get through.

Motivating your staff can come in many ways. Make sure each of your employees have the tools and ability to complete the task that was given. If this does not happen, you will frustrate your staff and lose productivity in the process. If your employees know that they can approach you for help it can be a great way to create synergy and motivate your workforce. Sean Covey said it best “Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” One will learn a lot by listening to their employees. If you can help your employees reach their life goals, they will be motivated and it will be a win-win situation. Empower your employees, they love to be able to help their clients and customers without sending them up the chain of command. Your customers and clients will like it too.

Focus

When there are goals on the table, there is something to work towards. It is like you setting your heading. One has to know where one is going to reach the correct destination. Make sure your goals are achievable. If they are not achievable your workforce will not be motivated to reach the other goals.

If you are making goals for your business or organization remember this acronym: SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely).

Picking Your Team

The first thing that anyone must do is pick the people that they want on their team.  Your team will either make or break you as an athlete, musician, or business.  You shouldn’t bring on new people for the sake of having your best friend on the team unless they are good and will compliment your abilities.  If your dream is to have a successful insurance agency or band, be careful who you bring on.  You want the best people that you can afford and if they don’t work out find someone else.

Leading

Knowing when to lead is huge.  If you are normally the leader that is great but it is more important to know when to step back.  In a music group, your best musician may not be the best at promoting or selling tickets but he makes your shows better.  Recognize each member’s skills and abilities and delegate the tasks to the person will do the best job.   Always have an open ear to your fellow coworkers and teammates, try to help them out whenever you can.  Create a business or team that works better together than apart.  If you have this type of group, hold on to it.

Marketing Your Group

In the end, try to make people leave happier than when they first walked in to your business, concert, or stadium.

Even though Denver is experiencing spring like weather we have to watch out.  March is still the snowiest month for Denver.  The first day of spring falls on the spring equinox and happens to fall on March 20th.  The spring equinox is great because days start to be lighter for longer.  It allows us to take a nice walk outside after work while it is still sunny out.
