Ever been on the road and encountered an aggressive driver? Aggressive drivers are not only a source of frustration, they can be dangerous. Here are a few tips to help you deal with the situation.
- Don’t lose your cool. The last thing you want to do to an aggressive driver is challenge them by speeding up. Also, if the aggressive driver makes an obscene gesture, don’t gesture back. You’ll only be adding fuel to an already bad situation.
- Move out of the way. If the other driver is in THAT big of a hurry, then move out of the aggressive driver’s path.
- Avoid making eye contact. It can be frustrating dealing with an aggressive driver. But just ignore them. Do your best to get out of their way but don’t make eye contact. This can be seen as threatening or that you’re looking to challenge them right back. Don’t return bad behavior in kind.
- Call the police. As soon as you can safely call the police, you may want to consider doing so. Aggressive drivers pose a safety threat to themselves and other drivers on the road. Make sure you provide them with a description of the vehicle, the license plate number and the location and direction the aggressive driver is headed. Don’t take matters into your own hands!
